Dear colleagues:
I hope all is well with you. I am writing to indicate that I shall
vote against the motion proposed by Secretary Bennett.
While I appreciate the desire of Ms. Bennett and others to deal
with this matter prior to the LNC meeting in November, I have concerns
about the motion. For example, the voting method is not clearly
defined. The phrase "instant runoff voting" can be used to describe
several different voting procedures; I am not able to support the motion
until the specifics of the voting process are more clearly defined.
Also, it is possible that other candidates for the position may emerge
in the aftermath of the November elections.
I apologize for not contacting you sooner about this matter. I have
been dealing with some unexpected problems which have consumed a
nontrivial fraction of my time.
As always, thanks for your work for liberty. I look forward to
seeing you at the next LNC meeting.
Take care,
Jim
