I wanted to let the LNC know of a few things I am working on.
Tomorrow I will be in Orange County to meet with Jim Gray and some potential
major donors from the entertainment industry, to talk about how we can work
together. I will let you know later how things went, but I must tell you
that in the potential conflicts between disclosure of my activities, and the
confidentiality of donors and members, that I will need to be circumspect.
By the way, no one else is invited or allowed - I am a guest, and this is
NOT an LNC meeting.
Some time ago, Sam Goldstein raised questions regarding our renewal
procedures, and after investigating, I determined that we have renewal
practices (what we do), but not procedures (documentation of what we're
supposed to do).
Since that time, I have been directing staff to create an inventory of our
formally documented procedures, and all undocumented processes. We are
still in the discovery phase of this project, and I am requesting more
information before we move into the planning and implementation phase. At
this time, I have no expectations for when we will have a complete set of
internal procedures. That will be estimated once we have a better
understanding of the scope of the effort, and the resources we are able to
direct to this effort without negatively affecting daily LPHQ workloads.
I intend to have a "master plan" produced by the time of the LNC meeting.
What I will say is that we have many opportunities for improving our
procedure documentation.
Multiple players are now involved in the service level agreement project,
including LSLA members, staff, etc. We are still in the information
gathering phase, but the intention is to have an agreement that can be
supported and endorsed by the LSLA at their annual meeting in May.
Progress has been made on the other three "projects" I asked for permission
for (Legal Offense, libertarian angels, and UmightB). None of these is
ready for prime time.
