Dear Chairman Neale:
I hope all is well with you. I am writing in my capacity as
Secretary Pro Tem to provide you and our LNC colleagues with the results
concerning Mark Hinkle's first motion concerning the purchase of a
building.
Text of Motion:
*Moved, that the LNC approve the purchase of an office in the greater
Washington, D.C. area, to be named in honor of David F. Nolan,
contingent on the following conditions:*
·*A minimum of 20% of the down payment shall be raised from dedicated
contributions. If a portion of that is in the form of pledges, the
pledges must be converted to cash before a purchase contract and
mortgage agreement are finalized.*
·*The monthly payment of principal, interest, and OTM (Overhead, Taxes,
and Maintenance) shall not exceed 75% of our current lease payments at
the Watergate complex.*
*This motion will constitute authority to incur a mortgage if the above
conditions are met and if this motion passes by the necessary two-thirds
vote as specified in the Libertarian Party's Bylaws.*
*The final decision on what property to buy shall be ratified by the
LNC's Executive Committee by a majority vote once the above conditions
are met.*
As of the close of the voting period at 9:40 p.m. EST last night
(Thursday, Jan. 24), the vote totals are as follows (voters are listed
by alphabetical order of surname):
Ayes (6): Cloud, Hinkle, Kirkland, Myers, Redpath, Vohra
Nays (8): Lark, Mack, Olsen, Pojunis, Starchild, Visek, Wiener, Wrights
Note: Mr. Goldstein (Region 3 alternate) voted "nay"; his vote is
superseded by the "nay" vote of Ms. Mack. Dr. Lieberman (Region 4
alternate) voted "nay." According to the rules of Region 4 (as
described by Dan Wiener), since both Mr. Wiener and Mr. Pojunis cast
votes, Dr. Lieberman's vote is superseded by the "nay" vote of Mr.
Wiener. Mr. Frankel (Region 7 alternate) voted "aye"; his vote is
superseded by the "aye" vote of Mr. Myers.
I request that our LNC colleagues review the list of votes and
associated voters above and the list of voters and vote submission dates
below. I also request that a member who finds an error in either list
contact the LNC as soon as possible.
As always, thanks for your work for liberty. Please do not
hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance to you.
Take care,
Jim
