Geoff,

I did indeed mention that again at our last meeting, and with everything else going on, promptly forgot it again! Thanks for the reminder. Here's my statement:

In a hypothetical situation where I have to choose between loyalty to the Libertarian Party and loyalty to the larger libertarian movement which is by definition all the individuals and groups consciously working for freedom from a libertarian perspective at any given time, my primary allegiance will be to the movement, because organizations can and do go astray and it is the IDEAS that matter -- the LP like every other organization being not an end in itself but simply a means to our goal of universal freedom, a world in which each individual is sovereign over his/her own life.

I strongly hope that everyone in the leadership of the LP and other organizations in the libertarian movement feels this same conflict of interest, and I encourage others to join me in stating it for the record, to remind ourselves to be vigilant against the not uncommon tendency among leaders of organizations to elevate the narrow or short-term institutional interests of the organization over the good of the cause that it was created in order to advance.

Love & Liberty,
                                   ((( starchild )))
