And for those of you who think that it is important for all Libertarian
candidates for State Legislature or Congress to say that they want to
"Legalize all Drugs" rather than just "Legalize Marijuana".
>From the Reason Poll on Millenials, abridged edition:
Do you think the Govt. Should Prohibit or Allow the following: (1)
Marijuana
Allow or Mostly Allow 57%
Prohibit or Mostly Prohibit 40%
Cocaine
Allow or Mostly Allow 22%
Prohibit or mostly prohibit 73%
And remember - these results are ONLY from 18 to 29 year olds. I would
assume that adults 30 and over
would be even less tolerant of cocaine than this.
Considering that saying that you are in favor of legalizing marijuana is not
incompatible with also wanting to legalize cocaine, why should the
Libertarian Party force or strongly urge our candidates to publicly advocate
a very unpopular position?
I am not saying that our candidates should be forbidden from publicly
advocating the legalization of cocaine, but I am saying that I am in favor
of giving our candidates a choice as to how they personally promote the
libertarian message, as long as what they advocate moves the ball at least a
tiny bit in the libertarian direction.
You are in favor of individual choice, aren't you?
