I've been hearing on the news that they're having trouble filling this job
because no one wants it.  Many of us have pointed out that seeking
appointments is easier than winning in a rigged partisan system.  Maybe we
should find qualified LP members and take advantage of our HQ being located
in DC in order to lobby for their appointment.
