[Lnc-business] Email Ballot 2014-12: December LNC Session

Norm doesn't have strong opinion on this and it is obvious that it will pass anyway.  He instructed me to vote for Region 1 and suggested that I cast my vote on all future motions whether he votes or not.  So here goes:

I vote nay!  on ballot 2014-12

for the following reasons:  I don't see any reason to spend money that we don't have on a face to face meeting, especially not for two days, when we have demonstrated the ability to transact all business by email.  We are making much more carefully thought out decisions now because we have up to ten days to research things and can't be bamboozled by someone who has done their homework before the meeting.  Our deliberations are more timely this way.  If an emergency arose, we could respond in a day or two instead of waiting up to three months for the next physical session.  I doubt that Josh or I will be able to persuade you to spend a more reasonable several hundred dollars on utilitarian meeting facilities  when you seem to be concerned that the hotel staff might think we are cheapskates if we don't spend at least $5,000.  Forty years of extravagant meetings have not convinced the bellhops of America to help us elect any libertarians to high offices yet.  Maybe we just aren't spending enough. (If you can ridicule us by claiming that we want to meet in barns or needle parks, I can volley it right back at ya)   I would favor several social gatherings per year if they didn't turn into junkets that a real politician would be jealous of.
