Don't forget that platform plank 3.4 includes the sentence:
"However, we support control over the entry into our country of foreign
nationals who pose a credible threat to security, health or property."
That is more relevant to the Thomas Duncans of the world than to the nurse
from Maine.
But I agree with Scott that a key element here is at what point people with
Ebola become contagious, and we don't really know the answer to that, so I
don't think we should attempt to stake out a position on something we don't
understand.
When we did a press release blaming the Ferguson incident situation on
racial profiling as a part of the drug war, we didn't yet know that the kid
had just strong-arm robbed a convenience store. When the rest of the story
became known, we looked silly for having spoken in ignorance.
