On page 11, the December 2014 issue of LP News lists the 20 candidates who
raised the most money for their campaigns in 2014.

Aaron Starr, who ran for a City Council seat in Oxnard, California, is in
4th place on that list.

Forget about US House - on the list there were 3 Gubernatorial Nominees, 4
US Senate Nominees, and one Attorney General Nominee who raised less money
than Mr. Starr.

And of course there were other Libertarian Nominees for Governor, US Senate,
and other statewide races who did not even make that list.

What does it say about our political party when a candidate for City Council
can out raise almost all of our nominees who are running for statewide
offices? It's not like Oxnard is New York City - the population of Oxnard
is only 204,000.

I understand that raising money for statewide races that are not "vote test"
races is very difficult.

Perhaps this chart is telling us that our state affiliates should be
steering our star fundraisers into running for offices that they have a
chance of winning. Or, if that is not possible, at least make sure they are
running for vote test races.
