The good folks in Kansas were prominently among the protesters who helped
save Kyler Carriker from a long prison term. Check it out:

2. Jury Rights Day Celebration
3. State Fair Volunteers Needed Now!
4. My Letter To the Eagle Re Carricker Verdict
5. Jesse Ventura may seek LP Presidential Nomination
1 From The Editor
Hello everyone,
There is always so much always going on at the end of August - first of
September for the Kansas LP and LSOCK. LSOCK members will again be at the
Sedgwick County Courthouse on September 1st handing out Jury Rights flyers
and the Kansas State Fair begins on the 11th. More on these events are below
in #2 and #3.
The Eagle actually mentioned jury nullification in an article on July 30
when the Kyler Carricker case was turned over to the jury for their
deliberation. Then, the next day, on July 31, the Eagle reported the not
guilty verdict on the Felony Murder charge but did not even mention jury
nullification and the fact that this was obviously an exercise of that power
by the Carricker jury!
I recently sent a Letter to the Eagle about their lack of any reporting on
the Kyler Carricker acquittal regarding it being a clear example of jury
nullification and they actually (surprise) published it last Saturday! You
can read it in #4 below.
More on this trial and many other interesting articles about politics and
government in Kansas can be found at www.kansasexposed.org Check it out!
Finally, in what may be a real game changer for the Libertarian Party, Jesse
Ventura may be considering seeking the LP nomination for President! More on
this in #5 below.
This coming election year will be an exciting one for Libertarians.

2. Jury Rights Celebration September 1st
LSOCK will hold a celebration of Jury Rights Tuesday, September 1, from 3:30
to 5:30 PM in front of the Sedgwick County Courthouse. Jury Rights signs to
carry and literature to hand out will be provided. Please come and enjoy
educating the public to the powers of the jury. For background on this
subject visit the Fully Informed Jury Association website at FIJA.org and
learn about this important part of our Common Law heritage.
Libertarian Party members have been celebrating Jury Right's Day at the
Sedgwick County Courthouse around the 5th of September every year beginning
in 1996. We also have handed out flyers on Jury Nullification on a weekly
then monthly basis for much of that time thanks to the determination and
persistence of Kelly Wendeln and Frankie Moore. This couple passed away
within a few days of each other in April of 2013 and are sorely missed. I
know that they would be very pleased that their efforts have born fruit here
in Sedgwick County with the Carricker acquittal
3. State Fair Volunteers Needed Now!
Once again, it is time to prepare for the Kansas State Fair .We need
volunteers to staff the LPKS Outreach Booth, aka the Politically Homeless
Booth, this coming September.
Our booth must have at least one (preferably two or more) person(s) manning
the booth from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM every day of the Fair. That is from
Friday, September 11th through Sunday, 20th.
I will be doing the scheduling for this event again this year. The day is
split into morning (9 AM to 3 PM) and evening (3 PM to 9 PM) shifts but I
can schedule you for anytime through the day that you may have available to
volunteer.
The LPKS does outreach booths at a variety of festivals around the state but
the Kansas State Fair allows us to contact a wide cross section of Kansans
from all over the entire state at this one event.
If you want to assist us please contact me, Steven Rosile, by replying to
this email or sarasile at att.net , or calling me at 316 618-1339.
4. My Letter To the Eagle Re Carricker Verdict
Letter to the Wichita Eagle as published 08.22.15
Kyler Carricker's trial ended July 30, and there has not been anything in
The Eagle regarding the significance of the jury's acquittal on the felony
murder count. ("Man found not guilty of murder in marijuana deal," July 31
Eagle) As the same jury found him guilty of the underlying felony, this is a
clear example of jury nullification.
Jury nullification is when a jury disregards the law and acquits the
defendant. This may be because they do not feel the law is just (think
northerners and federal fugitive slave laws before 1861) or when they feel
justice requires that the law not be applied on the facts of the case before
them.
The jury has this power of acquittal, even though our judges and prosecutors
do not like it and so do everything they can to keep this knowledge secret.
However, jury nullification is one of our most precious rights as it allows
the people to protect each other from bad laws and unjust government without
resorting to violence.
September 5th is Jury Rights Day in honor of the brave jurors imprisoned
after their acquittal of William Penn in London, England in 1670. Penn (who
later founded Pennsylvania Colony) was on trial for holding an illegal
Quaker church service in the street after being locked out of his church.
The jurors were finally exonerated and freed, and this power was firmly
established in English and American law.

the Fully Informed Jury Association at FIJA.org .

5. Jesse Ventura may seek LP Presidential Nomination
In what I consider to be possibly the most exciting thing to happen to the
Libertarian Party in a long while, Jesse Ventura may be considering running
for President in 2016 and he said on CNN Live Tonight (September 18) with
Don Lemon that if he does he will seek the Libertarian Party nomination!
I spotted Ventura on the screen while surfing through the talking
heads channels and watched the interview already in progress. Lemon was
asking about the possibility of Ventura running as Donald Trump's running
mate to which Ventura responded that he would certainly consider it and that
such a team up would certainly shake up the Republican Party. Then Lemon
asked if Ventura had any presidential aspirations of his own.
Ventura replied that he had not considered it but who knows what
might happen tomorrow. Then he went on to say that if he did decide to run
he would not join the crowded Republican field but would instead seek the
Libertarian Party nomination next June at their (our) Convention. He also
then stated that any others thinking of running for president should
seriously consider the Libertarian Party, that they (we) are basically on
the ballot in all 50 states and so their nominee will be on the ballot
without having to waste so much money, time and energy just getting on the
ballot before the campaign can even begin.
Even if Ventura decides not to run, he just gave the Libertarian
Party a huge plug on national television!
In my opinion the LP should immediately launch a Draft Jesse
Ventura movement to capitalize on this.
.
I would like for you to be able to see this interview for yourself so I
checked the net for a link to the Ventura interview. I found several links
to what purported to the full interview, a 5 minute 18 second version and a
7 minute 20 second version.
Neither version (found on multiple sites) included Ventura's remarks about
seeking the Libertarian Party nomination. They did include his mention of
the fact that if the GOP ticket was Trump and Ventura that libertarian and
independent voters would flock to their candidacy and vote for them in
droves.
This is just another of so many examples of media bias against our party. I
was fortunate to have seen this interview as it was broadcast live on CNN. I
may not have ever become aware of this otherwise.
I am also fortunate that I was so taken by this that I immediately wrote
down a note describing what, who, when and where this occurred. It was
broadcast at around 9:30 PM CDT, September 18th on CNN Live Tonight with Don
Lemon hosting.
There may be a complete interview on the net somewhere. If you find a link
to it please send it to me so I can share it with everyone.
Thank you.

Steven A. Rosile
