[Lnc-business] Professional Photographer at LNC Meeting

As you all know, money from the National LP was used to pay for our working
lunch during the LNC Session a few weeks ago.

 

I don't feel comfortable accepting a "free" meal at an LNC Session, so I
just donated $100 to the General Fund on the National LP web site.  

 

I assume the meal cost around $50 per person, so the remainder will pay for
50% of one of the photographs shown below.  

 

Even if we needed to spend the money on food and beverages to get the
meeting room "for free", it was likely possible to also get the meeting room
"for free" by increasing the room rate by $20 or so per night.  Maybe that
would hurt LNC members financially, but it would have saved our member's
donated funds for something more directly related to political activity.  If
my understanding of the finances of the lunch is incorrect, I am sure that
Mr. Kraus or Mr. Benedict will correct me.

 


I am assuming that the amount of money that was donated for the photos did
not cover the entire cost.

It sounds easy to ask people to just go out and get a professional photo
made. But the reality is, not many people will actually get around to it.
I've been meaning to get an updated photo for myself for about 5 years.  Two
former Chairs never seemed to get around to it. I'm glad Nick is going to
make it happen.

People are often already dressed up for LNC meetings and the photographer
will be right there, so 20 people don't have to individually find a
photographer, schedule a session, get dressed just for that reason, drive to
a location, take the trouble to email me the photos, etc.

I think this is a good efficient use of funds. But, I'm guessing maybe 15
people will take us up on the offer, and probably 8 to 10 will contribute
$100 or more to cover the costs. So I'm estimating we're probably looking at
more like $500 to $700 total cost to the LNC.  We'll see.

I'll contribute $100 at https://www.lp.org/contribute to defray the cost for
my photo, and I'll contribute $100 also, if Robert Kraus also gets a photo
made, after we receive the photos.
