Mr. Chair:
This is what is says at the top of the results page when you Google “purpose of a political party” :
The basic purpose of political parties is to nominate candidates for public office and to get as many of them elected as possible. Once elected, these officials try to achieve the goals of their party through legislation and program initiatives.
From: The <http://www.cliffsnotes.com/more-subjects/american-government/political-parties/the-functions-of-political-parties> Functions of Political Parties - Cliffs Notes
As of one minute ago, from http://www.lp.org/candidates/elected-officials
“Nationwide, there are 151 Libertarians holding elected offices: 52 partisan offices, and 99 nonpartisan offices.”
There are approximately 500,000 elected offices nationwide. The Libertarian Party has been in existence for 43 years.
I agree that the board members of a non-profit organization have an obligation to Give or Get money for their organization.
However, I honestly do not know how to raise money for an organization that refuses to focus on the goal
that every rational definition of “political party” mentions. Plus, as I have written ad nauseam, our own Bylaws agree with the above definition.
If the LNC focused on getting our affiliates to start winning as many elections as possible at the local level, I can virtually guarantee that we could come within striking range of doubling our number of elected officials during each 2 year LNC term for the next decade.
And if we started doing that, it would be a lot easier to raise money for the national Libertarian Party. The reason is that we could finally show concrete results in the real world that were a DIRECT result of our efforts. Plus, we could then advertise the reductions in the size and scope of local government that our elected officials were able to achieve.

Fellow LNC Members,
As I know you are all aware, our finances are constrained and have been for the last few months. We have been realizing some financial efficiencies from having a smaller staff and no general counsel for the last six months or so, but we are likely to choose a general counsel at this upcoming LNC meeting and will also be restaffing to some extent.
To do this effectively, we need money. I have been making phone calls to try to raise money for projects and generally. So far, these efforts have only yielded $20K, but I'm still actively working the phones to raise money for Oklahoma ballot access.
If you are willing and able to help make phone calls to donors to try to fill some of this budget gap, I'd appreciate it. Wes Benedict can provide you with a list of donors to call, tailored to your region and/or project interests.
Whether other members of the committee step up to make calls or not, I will continue to work the phones to raise the funds we need to continue the fight for liberty. I hope you will help.
Yours in liberty,
Nick
