I think the common conclusion drawn from this chart is that Republicans
typically are Republicans because of tradition. In other words, if you're
a Republican, you don't change your mind about that - ever. The Democrats,
by contrast, have changed a lot. This should say a lot to those people who
think they're going to "win over" Republicans because the Libertarian views
are "so much more sensible".
My guess is that the LP graph looks pretty similar to the Republican graph,
unfortunately. ...quite possibly even worse from my own observations in
local events. And that doesn't even touch on male vs. female tendencies. :(
Provided my speculation is even a little correct, I would say the real
question is whether or not the LP wants to change that; does it want to be
more inclusive?. If not then we needn't discuss it. If yes, then we
should probably examine why we have such little diversity.
