So I had CCed Bob on an Email earlier and apparently he responded but bounced back from the list. I had thought with him having that swanky LP email address it would go through. When I start thinking..duck. So Bob's email back to me referenced 5k limits for Federal candidates. But if you glance through parts of FEC guides..they get you thinking it applies to everyone. To everyone that hasn't followed everything here, I think(duck) that Lauren was gauging things on what Bob was telling her.
All that said, I think we should wait for Paula's response like Sam just suggested... Once again, I blame the government.

Subject: FEC and Miller Campaign
All,
I have not heard back yet from Paula Edwards, so I called the FEC 800 #, and what I was told was that a political committee, including the FEC, can donate as much to a non-federal candidate, such as Mark Miller, as the state law allows. In Texas, it appears that candidates can receive unlimited contributions from individuals, parties, and PACs.
Further, a non-federal candidate does not have to start filing with the FEC, even if the candidate receives more than $1000, as long as the candidate does not engage in federal election activity.
Earlier, I had sent to Daniel Hayes information from the FEC candidate guide, instead of the FEC party guide:
Campaign Guide for Political Party Committees (August 2013) [PDF]
See page 38 of the above guide, “Supporting Nonfederal Candidates”.
