As a Libertarian I do not like to see items of clothing banned by any government, there are instances and places where it may be appropriate. For instance, passing through a security check. I do not think a ski mask or a burqa should be worn.
As I understand it, the burqa is justified as it keeps the muslim women safe from rape (which really has been proven as not very effective with muslim men at least). But I doubt there is much danger of rape in an airport security line, of visiting the local bank. Nor should a ski mask or burqa be worn in some activities such as driving a car (again, the likelihood here of rape is relatively low).
On the other extreme, I would support banning extremely revealing clothing in our public schools, as it is a total distraction for those hormone driven kids who are there to learn science and not just the birds and the bees and where do babies come from. In fact, in public schools, I would not mind mandating burqas and full body covering be worn by both the girls and the guys.
