Hi Charles,

Thank you for taking time to write and to be engaged as a member with the governance of our party. Such engagement is vital to maintaining the Libertarian Party as a grassroots, bottom-up organization.

My view is that secrecy should be used very rarely by our party's leadership, and that if a matter is important enough that it needs to be kept secret, it is important enough that it should be considered by the entire LNC and not just a subcommittee. But I appreciate your generally pro-transparency stance, and it seems quite possible that something like what you suggest may be the compromise we end up with (hopefully with appropriate safeguards to prevent the abuse of "exceptions").

Thanks again for writing, and for your work for freedom as an activist and candidate for public office. Good luck with your race this November!

Love & Liberty,

I understand exceptions may be necessary for personnel matters, ballot access discussions, and other sensitive issues, but those should be the exception and not the rule.
