Nice, Caryn! You set a good example by maintaining proactive communication with your regional members.
I particularly like your comment “We are not rulers on a hill but elected representatives”.
To put it another way, we are not authoritarians seeking power over others. We are voluntary collaborators working hard to set a good example and encourage others to show up and help themselves and all of us achieve the freedoms we all deserve.

Subject: Re: [Lnc-business] Committee transparency
Lol I openly requested member support in my completely open LNC Region 1 site and FB group and on LNC Business Discuss. All in full view of members.
Neither coordinated or planned. I merely ask members to stay involved on issues they are about. Something I intend to keep doing. I hope we all want this kind of input. We are not rulers on a hill but elected representatives.
Notice these are Region 1 members. I engage with my Region.

It's transparent that this is planned and coordinated and planned effort. Was this concocted in some hidden defunct AOL private room from the early 90s at a cost of $3.95/hr? Or was this done in Jekyll Isle, Georgia?

Charles, thank you for writing. As your Regional Representative I am absolutely committed to transparency and will keep my campaign promise to fight for it. I urge my fellow Regional Representatives to be in touch with grass roots Party members. I am, and do not find that they support opacity. I also support the limited exceptions you do, which is already in place. I will keep Region 1 updated as to the status of my efforts, and thus far, no one in Region 1 has supported opacity.

Hi Charles,
Thank you for taking time to write and to be engaged as a member with the governance of our party. Such engagement is vital to maintaining the Libertarian Party as a grassroots, bottom-up organization.
My view is that secrecy should be used very rarely by our party's leadership, and that if a matter is important enough that it needs to be kept secret, it is important enough that it should be considered by the entire LNC and not just a subcommittee. But I appreciate your generally pro-transparency stance, and it seems quite possible that something like what you suggest may be the compromise we end up with (hopefully with appropriate safeguards to prevent the abuse of "exceptions").
Thanks again for writing, and for your work for freedom as an activist and candidate for public office. Good luck with your race this November!

I understand exceptions may be necessary for personnel matters, ballot access discussions, and other sensitive issues, but those should be the exception and not the rule.
