I can meet September 18. I'm available any Sunday in September. If it's on a Saturday, I have a preference for Sept 24, but could make any Saturday.

Dr. Lark's participation considering his extensive submission already to the goals discussion is essential in my book. How about we look at Sunday the 18th?

Dear colleagues:
I hope all is well with you. I shall not be able to participate in a meeting held on Sept. 17 at 3:00 p.m. (EDT?) I shall be unavailable on Sept. 17 from roughly 12:00 p.m. EDT until roughly 8:30 p.m. EDT. Allow me to note that Sept. 17 is frequently celebrated as Constitution Day; some LP organizations conduct outreach events on that day.
For whatever it is worth, I have commitments on each Saturday from Sept. 3 until Nov. 19 (in most cases I shall be involved with Libertarian activities). If we must hold a meeting on a Saturday in September, I request that it begin no earlier than 8:00 p.m. EDT. Also, I prefer that we not hold a meeting on Sept. 10 unless absolutely necessary.
Thanks for your work for liberty, and for considering my requests.
Take care,

Okay now then with this limited feedback, I will make a more firm suggestion. I would like supporters for a 9/17/16 electronic meeting as described by our Policy Manuel to be scheduled for 3 hours beginning at 3pm on 9/17/16 with the following agenda topics:
Goals (focusing on post-November member retention)
Transparency proposal
Campaign update (perhaps invite Nielson)
Now that there is something specific... thoughts? Firm support?
Here are the Policy Manual Provisions as I understand:
1. d) Electronic meetings may be called by either:
* The committee Chair, or
* 1/3 of the committee members or 2 committee members, whichever is greater. However, the call of an electronic meeting can be canceled if a majority of the committee members email a cancellation request to the entire committee prior to the scheduled time of the meeting.
2. e) Each committee member calling for an electronic meeting must do so by emailing the entire committee and specifying the date of the meeting, time of the meeting, and the topic(s) to be addressed. Meetings must be so called no fewer than 2 days in advance for committees with fewer than 10 members, or 7 days in advance for committees with 10 or more members. These time limits do not apply to the LNC's Executive Committee, the LNC's Advertising and Publications Review Committee, or the Judicial Committee.
6. f) For electronic LNC meetings, messages calling or vetoing a meeting must be sent on the LNC-Business email list.
7. g) When a sufficient number of people have issued a call for an electronic meeting, the committee Chair or Secretary shall issue a notice of the meeting to each member and alternate of the committee. In addition to the standard notice content, the meeting notice shall describe how to participate in the meeting.

Thank you Joshua, perhaps just one portion of goals could be discussed. Specifically member retention following November in the event we don't win. There will be a lot of disillusioned people that we will need to retain for all the great Libertarian work there is to do. And if we win, it is still a great portion of goals to discuss. We can't let these brand new Libertarians slip through the cracks.

This is, in part, why I didn't think goals was a good topic for the electronic meeting. The other part is closely related, though - I just don't think the online environment is conducive to the type of discussion we seem to want to have on goals. In addition to what Alicia pointed out, there's just something uncomfortable about sitting in front of the computer and having a meeting, something different from what happens in a physical meeting. Maybe it's the way your camera and headphones keep you from getting up and walking around the room, maybe it's the artificial feel, I'm not sure. In any case, I strongly agree that we should keep it to 1-2 hours. I'd rather we take up business that needs real discussion but can be completed reasonably quickly, such as your transparency proposal, rather than something like goals. Just my $.02 though.

Alicia, I am fine with shorter. If things are not completed, we discuss another one. Let's shoot for two hours then for goals at a minimum though I really would like my transparency proposal to be heard as it is prerequisite to an empower committee proposal I am working on with Joshua.

4-6 hours is a LOT for an online meeting, especially for the first time a group uses a new technology. Online meetings are adequate for one or two narrow subjects at a time.
It is NOT the same as an in-person meeting. Some are dealing with other distractions like pets, other people, and televisions. There will be barking dogs, interrupting kids/grandkids, neighbors mowing the yard, ringing phones, etc. There's usually at least one person who will not follow the instructions about how to avoid creating an echo for everyone else. It's really hard to pay attention in those circumstances. Some are not tech savvy and struggle to participate.
The last time we had one, it was like a game of whack-a-mole for me to keep background noise out from the microphones of people not speaking who forgot to self-mute.
Let's not schedule an all-day ordeal. If there are a couple of subjects we need to take up, fine. But we really should try a 1-2 hour meeting first before we shoot for the moon.

Thank you Joshua. We can start batting around some dates if we get enough support. Or if the Chair calls a meeting. A member asked me privately how much time I was talking about and I said 4-6 hours total (I anticipate there will be other agenda items that people would want, and perhaps inviting Nielson to give a campaign update would be in order).

I agree with meeting electronically in September. I'm not sure about handling goals at such a meeting, but I do think we should meet. My availability is questionable, though, but I'll say this: I can't tell you "I'm available at such and such times" but I will make every effort to attend, whenever it is scheduled.

I firmly believe we need a September electronic meeting. I would like people to give availibility. Seems to me this is something that can and should be discussed publicly without off-list private discussions.
Business? Primarily the goals that were not done the last meeting. And any other outstanding issues, for myself that would be the transparency proposal.
