Six people might be able to call a meeting, but a quorum to conduct business is still nine people.

Subject: [Lnc-business] September meeting, prior to asking for co-requestors

Dr. Lark and committee:

The PM requires 1/3 not 1/2 so I believe it appropriate if 1/3 requests so I do not intend to withdraw my call. Further the members of my region have shared my sentiment and I serve their interests.

While in theory all of this could be done in email, the reality of the practice is starkly different. If members wish to convince me otherwise then let's have real discussions here on list on these issues with full participation. The fact is that most discussions here are largely ignored and fall into an institutional vortex. Even if I speak alone, that is something I will rail against and this has been this far the desire of the region who elected me. And if I am anything, it is zealous to be a faithful representative.

Let's get my transparency proposal to a vote and I will be convinced this can be handled by email. I have had three aborted tries to even get a full discussion on it.

Until we really start - everyone - consistently and fully articulating on this list. I will not believe this an efficient way to run party business between the overly long time frame in between meetings.

Dear colleagues:

I hope all is well with you. Allow me to offer some comments regarding the matter of a proposed September meeting.

1) It is very unlikely I can participate in a meeting on Sept. 11 unless it is held after 8:30 p.m. EDT that day. As of this moment I should be available throughout the day on Sept. 25.

2) Article 7, section 9 of the LP Bylaws allows meetings to be called if at least one-third of the LNC so request in writing. However, unless a majority of LNC members indicate agreement that such a meeting be held, I request that those seeking a meeting withdraw their call.

As far as I am aware, there is no issue before us that cannot be handled in a timely manner via e-mail discussion and ballots. Thus, unless an issue emerges for which a majority of LNC members believe a meeting is clearly necessary, I prefer that a meeting not be called prior to our scheduled meeting in December.

As always, thanks for your work for liberty. As always, thanks for considering my comments and requests.

    Take care,
    Jim

I am averse to having a meeting on 9/11 just for memorial reasons. That day is tough emotionally for a lot of people. How about the 25th? I would agree to the 11th if other meeting supporters wanted it.

I have an event that day too till 5 pm central... That is THE worst weekend for me. I could do 8pm which Dr large expressed interest in but that leaves out Tim. Sunday September 11th is better for me.
