Starchild,
Thank you for your thoughtful response to the sincere and insightful input from Shawn Perreault, Steve Kerbel and Brian McQuade. Now is the time for this valuable conversation.
Here are a few additional thoughts:
While there may be "growing disaffection among the Libertarian base" regarding Libertarian principle inconsistency as expressed by the Johnson/Weld ticket, I would suggest that the campaign is actually responding favorably to our criticisms and suggestions and is headed in the right direction albeit not as fast as we would like. We need to continue providing constructive criticism and suggestions to the campaign, but more importantly, we need to get our own house in order and our message on target.
The reality is that we all come from different Libertarian perspectives, we are all learning as we go and we are all at different stages and paces in our learning process. This reality contributes to the difficulty in persuading the broader audience without a coherent message. While we will never all agree 100% on the details of Libertarian principles, our first task is to do the necessary internal intellectual due diligence to clarify and crystallize our core principles and alternative interpretations as we refine our outreach strategies and techniques.
If we have the will to accomplish the necessary due diligence first steps, we will be in a much better position to put our own house in order with a coherent but inclusive message that allows for different perspectives, interpretations and learning rates. Once our own house is in order, we will be ready to move on to persuading not only the Johnson/Weld campaign but more importantly the broader external audience.
The general thoughts above are obviously short on specifics. I would suggest that we need to focus our initial due diligence on the following specifics that we do not have an internal understanding or consensus on much less a coherent external message:
* Compulsory majority rule built on authoritarianism, statism, cronyism and parasitism
* Coercive aggressive-force monopoly foundation of compulsory majority rule with our permission
* Legal avenue to opt out (secede) if government does not meet our expectations
I submit that our due diligence must start with these three foundation issues. Until we crystalize our understanding and resolve our interpretation of these three foundation issues, we will continue to drift aimlessly without our own house in order and without a coherent external message.
I say let's go for it. You in?

Shawn,
Thank you for taking the time to share your views regarding the proposed suspension by the LNC of Gary Johnson and Bill Weld as our presidential and vice-presidential nominees. I have written a longer response to the email that Brian McQuade of the Seacoast of New Hampshire LP sent to myself and some of my Libertarian National Committee colleagues, which I copied you on as I am copying him on this message in case either of you gentlemen do not subscribe to the public reflector of the LNC list.
But to respond specifically to you and summarize briefly here, I do not agree that Brian and his colleagues have lost their minds. Putting forward candidates who faithfully champion libertarian ideas is among the most important functions of the Libertarian Party, and to the extent we have candidates who are not doing this, we are doing something wrong and should take action to correct the problem. Taking the national stage isn't the only thing that matters - what we do there matters even more, but while we would be unwise to completely ignore what the mainstream media says, neither should we rely on their judgment as the arbiters of right action. However, I am not convinced that suspending the Johnson/Weld campaign at this time is the right action. And as a practical matter, I think there is very little chance of this LNC voting to suspend. If a radical libertarian like myself isn't persuaded, those who favor such a step are likely to face a real uphill struggle to get some of my fellow LNC members on board.
Nevertheless, I'd say the fact that we are even having this conversation is a sign that there is growing disaffection among the libertarian base which the Johnson/Weld campaign would be wise to heed, which is why I also copied campaign advisory board coordinator Steve Kerbel on my response to Brian (and in fairness, your countervailing message as well), so that he may perhaps pass along this additional non-board feedback.

Good evening,
I received word that the Libertarian Party of the Seacoast of NH recently sent you an email asking to suspend the nomination of Gary Johnson and Bill Weld. This group has lost their collective mind.
The Libertarian party has the best chance to take the national stage with Mr. Johnson and Mr. Weld and the last thing that this party needs is to give the mainstream media any ammunition to disparage these two gentlemen and our party.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful evening.
Shawn.
