Hi Daniel,

Thank you very much for writing to members of the LNC, though there is no need to refer to us as "distinguished"! I think your points are very well taken, and hope that my colleagues on the national committee will support the Region 1 representative's motion to rescind, as I do.

As I believe is true in Caryn's case, my support for this step is not meant to express a lack of confidence in Nick Sarwark's overall performance as chair, which I think has been solid. Particularly his excellence at public communications (interviews, press releases) which are in some respects the most important part of the job, especially in an election year like this where the Libertarian Party has a higher profile and is garnering more media attention than ever before. The fact that we haven't been discussing those communications much here is partly a reflection of the fact that there's been little, in my view anyway, to criticize. Indeed I daresay that I'd be hard-pressed to name anyone I've seen do a better job as chair than Nick during my time in the LP.

Nevertheless, I strongly concur with your call to uphold our status as the "Party of Principle" and "send a message both inside and out" affirming our commitment to transparency and bottom-up governance, which means eternal vigilance against the natural tendencies of power to become secretive, unaccountable, and centralized in the hands of a few. Your efforts to keep our party sustainably libertarian are appreciated by this representative!

Love & Liberty,
                                   ((( starchild )))

As a member of the Party I am befuddled that the Chair would take actions of such secrecy, and with the expressed desire of some to allow certain committees an unreasonable lack of transparency it begins to make me question my faith in the Party of Principle. I implore you, send a message both inside and out our that we do not abide secret contracts, back room deals and we do not abide trust being distilled into the hands of one.
