I vote yes.
The circumstances of this request are very different from most of the other
requests we have been receiving.
We're not his entire bankroll. He's raised $70k on his own so we're not
even funding a majority of his budget. He has a campaign team in place,
and we've been assured that our funds will be paying for campaigning rather
than for staff.
With our funding added to his, it's quite plausible to move the needle from
his previous 3.2% (I didn't double-check this figure, but it's close if not
exact) performance when he spent less than $1,000 to the 5% needed for
retention, even in such a large state as Texas.
Success here would likely save a much, much larger expense down the road to
re-gain ballot access.
All of these factors, plus newspaper endorsements, plus he's well qualified
for the job, are enough to win me over.
