[Lnc-business] Access to the books of the organization

Before a spreadsheet from QuickBooks is given out, I would want to ensure any sensitive Personal Identification Information and account numbers be stripped out. A second set of eyes should review it for items such as employee & contractor SSN, account numbers, and any other sensitive information.
Basically all of the other information is available in the FEC filings, except the details for contributions and expenditure that do not aggregate over $200 in a year. These, however, are included in the spreadsheet we send to Paula to prepare the reports. The spreadsheet for the FEC reports include a purpose description and amounts for all expenditures. The recipients should sign an agreement that the names and addresses of individual contributors may not be sold or used for any commercial purpose or to solicit any type of contribution or donation, such as political or charitable contributions. My preference is for them to get the contribution totals from the FEC website http://www.fec.gov/finance/disclosure/candcmte_info.shtml, and get the spreadsheets for expenditures that we send to Paula.

What income or expenditures are not on the FEC filings other than donations below $200?
What precisely has to be kept secret?

Mr. Chairman,
It is my understanding that a board member has the right to engage assistance in understanding corporate documents, so long as the person so engaged signs an NDA. However, there's a difference between a member needing assistance, and a member wanting to share with someone else.
I would think the appropriate path would be for the chair to review the request for reasonability, in consultation with counsel as appropriate, with appeal to the LNC possible. The chair could consider the expertise of the assistant, as well as the ability of the LNC member to seek equivalent help from a non-LP member, if applicable. However, it is important not to run afoul of the law granting members the right, not just to consult with an expert, but with the expert of their choice.
In general, I would think requiring an NDA from the selected assistant should suffice, but the chair should still review requests to avoid any outliers.
I am assuming, of course, we're talking about secure information, not that which is available at the FEC website.

Dear All,
We're going to be passing a budget at our December meeting. In
advance of that meeting, a member of the LNC has requested a
spreadsheet of all of the entries in our accounting software for
review in preparation for that meeting.
It is my opinion that this is an appropriate request. There has also
been a request to share some or all of the information regarding the
LNC's revenues and expenditures with people who are not members of the
LNC. This does not seem prudent to me, but I thought I would ask the
body what their opinion is on whether they believe that information
could be propperly shared by an LNC member.
Thoughts?
Yours in liberty,
Nick
