Sam,
>From the Committee's perspective, the following steps are next:
1. Collect and report all relevant information.
2. Explore our options to make access easier for 2018/2020.
3. Determine priority of options and execute.
I would love to see states take on responsibility for their own access.
Some states are probably ready to do it. Others are definitely not.
There will always be dysfunctional state affiliates. Even the Ds and Rs
have those. The LNC will always have to step up in some places to make
sure that we get 50+DC, if we want to have 50+DC. Obviously, the LNC
wants to enable state affiliates to succeed on their own, but we must be
prepared to jump in and run a drive.
We spent a lot of money this year. A lot. But given the preliminary
results, I'd say it was worth it. Even though JW16 under-performed many
expectations, we gained a lot of access as a party. I'm still compiling
data, but I'm working to figure out how many states in which we now have
access. I'm sure Richard Winger is doing the same over at B-A-N.
What is not being talked about is helping affiliates who just got ballot
access. LPKY just got access for the first time in their existence. LPOK
now has access. I'm sure there are others. We need to make sure they
retain, and also don't run "bad" people on their lines.
