[Lnc-business] Question time with Libertarian Party executive director Wes Benedict - Tues. Jan. 17, 3pm PST (6pm EST)

Alicia,

This is the only email list I'm on that has this problem, and as you know I'm on a bunch of lists. Somehow all the others manage just fine without limiting the number of recipients*. I suggest we apply that same common-sense practice to the LNC list, and simply turn off whatever settings I presume someone has created that are requiring messages with lots of recipients to be personally approved by a moderator (i.e. you). Or if they can't be turned off, then get a better list that isn't costing the LP over $800 per month! (Which we should do anyway.)

What you are suggesting – send multiple emails where just one would do, in order to comply with the unusual and unnecessary standards of one list – would also create extra busywork for anyone who wants to copy more than a certain number of people on messages sent to the LNC list. Or is that the idea, to discourage transparency by penalizing people who want to inform a wider audience of Libertarians about LNC matters?

Love & Liberty,
                                  ((( starchild )))

*With the semi-exception of Meetup, which only allows you to email one Meetup group list at a time (but any number of other email lists simultaneously with a Meetup group).

As I have told you previously, all you have to do to avoid this issue is to send your message to the LNC-Business list without copying lots of other recipients.

I have rejected this message from the list's admin panel, but all you have to do to send it straight through to the list by yourself is to forward the same message without a large cc: list. You have the power to fix this on your own without involving me, and that is how you need to send such messages in the future.

Thinking other LP members might also appreciate the opportunity to have a set time during which to ask him questions, I quickly took him up on this offer. (Of course folks are welcome to call the national office any time with any questions they may have, but I think there is value in having an occasional formal session set up for this purpose, and to hear the responses to questions raised by others.)

So if you have any questions about the party's national operations or what staff are doing, this Tuesday would be a good opportunity to ask. With Wes's cooperation, we may be repeating these Q&A conference calls every other month or so.

So I'm copying Robert Kraus and Alicia Mattson (I forget which of them is the list administrator) to ask them to approve the message promptly so that it gets posted to the LNC list in a timely manner, as it is time-sensitive.
