Colleagues,
So that we can better monitor the process, and prevent official public
communications that a majority of us believe are detrimental to the party's
image, please go to https://www.facebook.com/libertarians/ and send a
message requesting to be added as an administrator so that you can review
upcoming posts. I also suggest that you join the Design for Liberty group at
https://www.facebook.com/groups/DesignforLiberty/ so that you can see the
discussions surrounding the development of proposed posts.
There is a mechanism where a majority of us can quickly force the withdrawal
of a public communication that we deem harmful to the party's image. Our
policy manual includes Section 2.06.5 Assuring Quality Communications:
If a majority of all LNC members notify the Secretary of their belief that a
proposed or actual public communication is detrimental to the image of the
Party, such notification to occur no later than 72 hours after the public
communication is published, the Secretary shall inform the Executive
Director and Chair of this finding, and such communication shall not be
further disseminated, and to the extent possible, already-disseminated
material shall be promptly removed from the public sphere.
The above policy was drafted several years ago to provide a mechanism that
was faster than an email ballot for LNC members to withdraw detrimental
public communications. I believe it was invoked perhaps once or twice.
