Following up on that Facebook post - and yes, I agree on this point,
whether or not it was meant that way, teachers who see the problems in our
awful system can be allies, and unintentionally insulting them is something
to avoid. We can hate the state-run schools without alienating those that
can get on our train. Though I do think that an entirely separate issue
than this thread. We easily risk doing the same thing with police officers
and military. Hating state-abuses =/= state employees.
Intent doesn't always matter ultimately. There have been times I have
upset someone without meaning to. But what ends up matter is that insulted
them. I didn't read the post that way. But obviously some teachers did.
And that was not our intent, so live and learn for the future.
I remember a post I did that had the Republicans and Democrats holding
hands behind a couch which the Libertarian was hog-tied behind it. And some
people thought it was a picture of someone literally kidnapped - totally
not my intention. I would not post that one again.
