Brett,
Going by the link that Zach Foster included in the footnotes of his update, the blog post on LPIN.org may have been written by "a member of the state party" as you say, but it was published on the state party's website by the Indiana LP's vice-chair, Rodney Benker, and includes the language,
"The Libertarian Party of Indiana joins the Libertarian Parties of Nevada (LPN), New Hampshire (LPNH), and Spain (P-LIB) in demanding the immediate release of Ubaldo Herrera Hernandez and Manuel Velazquez Visea." (http://lpin.org/stand-strong-for-jailed-cuban-libertarians/)
If you're claiming that is inaccurate, it appears your issue is with the Indiana vice-chair, and not with Zach, who faithfully reported what was published on the Indiana LP website, or myself, who faithfully reported the info he provided.
Regarding the blogging discussion, I agree that blogging raises the potential for miscommunication, misinterpretations, etc. This can be minimized by having a second set of eyes such as the Advertising & Publications Review Committee that you chair, but the only way we can eliminate it completely is not to communicate anything publicly at all.

The LPIN has not taken any official action or position with regard to the Cuban activists. My understanding is that a member of the state party wrote a blog post that was published on LPIN.org. It was not an official party statement or position on the matter.

I had tried to reach him previously to get more information, but he was apparently having some communication issues and we hadn't been in contact until now.

As well, for those who haven't heard, he reports that the Indiana and New Mexico Libertarian Party affiliates have joined the Nevada, New Hampshire, and Oklahoma LPs in speaking out on this, as well as the Libertarian Party of Spain.

No one is advocating trade sanctions on Cuba or sending the Marines to Havana. Instead the LP would be calling international attention to a human rights violation. There is very little we can physically do for Herrera and Velazquez—even Edward Snowden is still a refugee—but we can at least ensure that neither these libertarians nor Mises Cuba are abandoned."

>> I wanted to clarify 2 things:
>>
>> Mises Cuba is based on the Mises Institute in Auburn, but not affiliated. They are their own institute. They've attempted to become licensed by the Cuban government, but their overlords have not yet granted them permission to teach free market economics. The original press release mistakenly referred to Mises Cuba as an affiliate when it's actually an independent organization of liberty-minded folks. I'm in ongoing contact with Mises Cuba.
>>
>> Also, Herrera and Velazquez are Cuban citizens. LP Nevada took up this cause because the detained have no one to speak for them. The problem is that these Cubans have become inspired by all of us American armchair libertarians who take for granted their ability to throw conventions and conferences and talk about liberty and how bad the state is. They've attended Mises Circles and libertarian meetings and carried that back to Cuba. Well, they've been arrested for it--for what we all do on a regular basis without a second thought. In Cuba, it's a matter of who's willing to go mess with State Security and ask questions. That's why we in LP Nevada are speaking out for their release. We're it.
>>
>> Nevada and New Hampshire have moved forward with this. We'll stand up for jailed libertarian activists whether they were locked up by Raul Castro or by the Trump administration. I hope this clarifies the issue and that you're still willing to stand with us.
