I think when talking about people being detained unjustly and likely
brutalized that "demand" is precisely the right language. I think when
standing for human rights that soft-pedaling language is never the right
course. I think when multiple state affiliates have signed on and support
that we should have - we too often are the tail wagging the dog. But my
position on the superiority of the affiliates and the deference we should
show when we get clear guidance from them is well known.
Sam brought up a great point (that I did not follow in this one due to some
pressing projects) but to the regionals - did you poll your state chairs?
I am doing so right now on the marijuana resolution explicitly.
I believe this statement was spot on but would consider an alternative as
well as I am not particularly proud that we as a body did not pass this.
Several people have indicated they would bring an alternative - please step
up to the plate.
