[Lnc-business] August LNC meeting

Thank you for asking I briefly checked with my Kasas City contact from my meeting planners group and they said there are still some great rates to be had (several hotels are offering specials) for that weekend. One in particular is Embassy Suites Kansas International Airport Location for about $120 a night. Once you all decide which cities I should focus on I can put in RFP’s and start the process of getting us a great deal!

We just need to ask Robert, not HB. We only need to go through HB if we are staying at the Hyatt in NOLA leading up to convention.

Robert, when you have the time today or..., can you take a peek at Kansas City?

If it has not been mentioned here. BetteRose is chasing the eclipse in Nebraska and is not available in Denver for a training.

If I recall properly she is thinking that if we do a budget meeting in NOLA in December(So the LNC can see the space before convention) she can do a training then on putting on a convention.

It looks like the path of the eclipse goes right over Kansas City. Can we ask Helms-Briscoe to see

if the area is totally sold out or if we can find a location there for a meeting that would satisfy the

eclipse chasers?

It would be very helpful for the LPCO - out of state conventions, we put on pretty big shindigs and you would have quite a few CO members attending I suspect.

A former LNC member set up a poll on polljunkie.com <http://polljunkie.com/> to help the LNC decide before. If anyone would like to try that, perhaps it would help you all decide where to have a meeting.

Here are results from that poll from a year ago:

http://polljunkie.com/poll/yqb <http://polljunkie.com/poll/yqbizi/poll-2-please-do-not-open-the-page-and-then-not-vote/view> izi/poll-2-please-do-not-open-the-page-and-then-not-vote/view

I do not decide where the meetings are. In fact, almost every specific location I've proposed for many years has failed (and I'm not offended--just pointing out a historical fact--definitely no one should go buying tickets for Denver just because I floated that suggestion).

The LNC has the option to decide when and where the meetings are, and if it doesn't exercise its option, the chair decides.

I'm mostly trying to facilitate a discussion to take advantage of the offer by BetteRose Ryan (the Convention Committee Chair).

I think it would probably be helpful for people to answer the question, "If the LNC meeting was in Denver, and if there was an all-day Friday training about the convention, would you attend?" (That would mean you probably need to arrive Thursday night or else real early Friday a.m.)

While it's possible a dozen or more people (LNC & non-LNC) might attend that kind of training, it's conceivable that as few as 3 or 4 would. I encourage you to speak up quickly so we can give good feedback to BetteRose on whether you would attend something that Friday.

Wes,

Both suggested national convention training seminar schedules work for me with a slight preference for Friday.

Denver, Tucson and Phoenix would be good locations for the next LNC meeting. I would add to the mix Sedona, Albuquerque, Omaha, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Chicago and Des Moines.

I submit the following motion for consideration - feel free to reword as appropriate:

Select the top three [or five] locations for each LNC meeting using approval voting. Use subsequent location logistics research by LNC staff and chair recommendations as the basis for a final round of approval voting. The last LNC meeting before an LP national convention and the LNC meeting immediately following an LP national convention are exempted from the approval voting location selection process.

BetteRose Ryan (copied on this note) would like to provide

weekend training seminar about how to put on a national

convention. Some of the information would be relevant to states as

well. I suggested trying to combine it with an LNC meeting since

many LNC members are likely to be involved in national convention

planning. I also suggested fitting it into a single day, and doing

it either all day the Friday of the LNC meeting, or on the Sunday

following, from 2 PM to 9 PM.

Would you all consider having the meeting in Denver so BetteRose

and perhaps her sister could conduct that training without

incurring travel costs? She said she could do it in Phoenix or

Tucson as well.

I'm completely flexible and not wanting to impose where not

wanted. I'm just trying to facilitate here.

I'm in favor of moving west for this one. Let's get the
