[Lnc-business] Email Ballot 2017-13: Issues of LPNews

Email providers are cracking down more and more on what's allowed and
what's not, and this is actually an AOL problem. Let me explain how it
happens:
The mailserver for your ISP (in my case, GMail) is doing a reverse IP
lookup on the email address for Mr. Hewitt. It also knows where the
message came from (existing lp.org mail server). It then looks up the DNS
record for AOL, and sees records for DKIM and/or SPF that say "emails from
this list of IPs is legitimately from AOL". It compares the output of the
output from the reverse IP lookup with the list of IPs in AOL's DNS record,
and sees that it doesn't match. Your mail server then assumes it's someone
trying to spoof the email address, and just sends it to the spameater,
which eats it (doesn't even put it in Junk, necessarily).
So long as you're using a mailbox with a domain outside of @lp.org to send
to the mailing list, it will continue to be a problem... and this will
continue to get worse. The world is trying to fight spammers.
The solution for the email problem is to quit using forwarders and instead
use LP.org email boxes. As we move states to the new shared hosting, in
theory emails between those domains on the shared solution will all play
nice together regardless.
