[Lnc-business] Joe Buchman excluded from Americans for Prosperity debate

What is that $5000 going to do? We always hear how "THIS" race is different. And then the candidate gets single digits. Until we have more money in the LNC coffers, my vote will be "NO" on assistance to candidates in these "large" races unless there are ballot access ramifications on the line. For this special election we can reasonably assume the Competition to spend $500,000+.

Our $5000 is going to have a negligible effect on this race. Joe will do an excellent job with "free" exposure such as this debate and his appearance on Coast to Coast. While I appreciate his suggestion of the Match on the show, can they even do that without the FEC,FCC giving them grief?

If people want to see the LNC do more for candidates, people are going to have to do more for the LNC. We could take that $5000 and make a pre-payment on the mortgage. That would put us about 2 month closer to having it paid off and freeing up $2900/month in revenue.

We have a $1.6 million budget for this year, that is at a deficit(meaning we are spending more than we are taking in by using money from last year's windfall.) We are ahead of where we budgeted for on fundraising thanks for Lauren and Jess but until I see projections over $2 million for the year, I will be a no. We preach fiscal responsibility. We need to exercise it.

I started writing this email a few hours ago and I see Bill saying some of what I had already written. Let's do a better job as a board of reaching out and creating and cultivating donors. Once we do that then we can do a lot more for candidates.

Of the four, three have been republicans (28 years) and one a democrat (six years). Given AFP’s interest in giving substantive time to the candidates to articulate substantive answers to whatever questions AFP deems relevant, perhaps they should also exclude the democrat as voters in the third district don’t appear to be overly interested in democrats.
