Erin, you're not doing anything wrong. It's just that you have your
settings configured differently than the rest of us do.
What's happening is exactly what Ken Moellman said. Your list subscription
is set to send you a daily digest (one email per day with all list
messages) instead of receiving each individual message as it comes through
the list. Since the emails rolled into the daily digest have several
different subject lines, the message you receive has a generic subject line
like, "Lnc-business Digest, Vol 63, Issue 112".
Because the email you receive has a different subject line, your replies to
those emails have a different subject line (unless you manually edit it),
so it shows up in our inboxes as a different thread, because our threads
are defined by subject lines.
Even though it increases the chances that I will overlook a vote when it is
cast under a different subject line, and I appreciate them being lumped
nicely in a single thread, I do read all my LNC emails and almost always
notice votes wherever they occur, even when Starchild puts them at the end
of TLDR-type messages. I do have your vote recorded, and I have
Starchild's vote recorded. If I miss one that was in an oddball location,
just point it out to me when I send the results, and I'll send corrected
results.
If you prefer to receive a separate copy of each email as it comes into the
list, rather than a daily digest that includes all of the messages from
that day bundled into a single email, you need to change your subscription
settings.
When you were initially added to the list, and again on the 1st of each
month, you should receive from the list an email containing a link to your
personal settings and your password to enable you to change your personal
settings. Just use that link and password to alter your settings from
"daily digest" to "individual emails", and then you'll have the same
subject lines as the rest of us, and your comments and votes will show up
in our inboxes in the same threads as the other people's activity on that
same subject.
