All,
I am switching my vote to "Yes" on the vote for funds for Joe Buchman's campaign.
My vote against it was really because I feel the LNC needs to raise a lot more money before we fund more candidates campaigns. In light of the chair and staff raising over $36,000 this week at Freedom Fest, I am switching my vote.
I ask that the LNC raise more money as an organization. The chair and staff did, not specifically in response to my wish but they still granted my "wish". The chair has asked us to reconsider and support this motion. I believe in rewarding positive actions. I also think Joe Buchman is a fine candidate.
I ask those others that voted "No" to reconsider in light of this revelation.
In the scheme of politics, $36,000 isn't a lot of money but it's over 7 times this donation.
Once again my objection overall was money. We of course need to continue to raise money and more money but it's a continuation of a good start.
If people want to see more support of candidates from the LNC, the LNC needs more support from its members. Keep it coming.
Shout out to our Head of Development, Lauren Daugherty. She's been working hard setting this stuff up. A hearty "well done!" To her and the rest of our staff.

With the time left to the special election, Dr. Buchman is in a better position to make effective use of our support than Mr. Wicks was mere days before the election.

They receive an outsized amount of media attention, so support of those candidates lets our party's voice be heard where the media is focused and spreads our message nationally. To my mind, that makes the decision of whether to support a candidate for a special election different from supporting one of hundreds of candidates in a normal election year.

One of our contentions is that money spent on direct candidate support and campaigning is more valuable to our party than money spent on a building or a national convention.
