I would like to pass on this message from Region 1 member Craig Bowden:
Caryn Ann,
I saw that there was a thread on establishing a committee to set guidelines
for the LNC to support candidates other than President. I want to express
my support for this to be established. There has been debate over a few
candidates in 2017 asking for support. The primary concern for opposition
has been that there is no established criteria for support of such measures.
I would implore that this matter be brought up as soon as possible and
moved on so that we can effectively establish the needed guidelines to
streamline the process. When we focus too much on debating the lack of
criteria, we lose focus on other pressing issues.
We need to establish not only the guidelines that will put most debate
aside, but also should have established a budget for candidates that fit
the bill for support from the LNC. That way we can make sure to not lose
sight of important things such as ballot access should we become over
extended. Having a budget item for this needs to be included.
I would be happy to apply for the committee to assist once it has been
established through the LNC to provide advice and knowledge of a good set
for guidelines, as I have been responsible for setting up similar
guidelines as President of a Political Action Committee.
In Liberty,
Craig Bowden
