 Furthermore,

We should not be over emphasizing the need to censor or hide the voice of our colleagues. We are all responsible for ourselves, just like the voluntary society we seek to build. We were all voted in with the full confidence of the membership to represent and lead the Libertarian Party moving forward. Social media is the new defacto medium for getting in touch with our membership, to market our goals, and show our personalities.

After convention I received literally hundreds of friend requests, people want to connect, and I think it is more appropriate for those who want to connect with me on a professional level to follow a professional profile that’s linked to on the website. Let’s give the membership what they want.

As far as what our colleagues post, we have to trust and work with each other, despite what may have happened in the past. We can either cut ourselves off so as to not risk anything, but not gain anything, or we can live with risk and connect with our membership on a much deeper and more relevant level.

It would be more relevant for the people following instead of intimate personal profiles and sending a friend request. I don’t think we should require that the Staff or the Libertarian Party own the page as an asset, it should be up to the representative or officer to curate their own content how they see fit.
