David,
Thank you for writing to members of the Libertarian National Committee. I just wrote a reply to several others who emailed today with concerns about our vice-chair's posting(s), and forwarded separately to you my response to them.
As noted in that response, I have not seen the post(s) in question. However it seems to me that your letter may be inaccurately conflating different things. The Wiktionary definition of pedophilia states:
> pedophilia (countable and uncountable, plural pedophilias)
>
> Sexual attraction to children by adults. quotations ▼
> Sexual activity between adults and children. quotations ▼
> Usage notes
>
> Many psychologists recommend against using the term pedophilia to denote sexual activities with children, because not all people with a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children (i.e., pedophilia) commit such acts, and child molesters often lack a strong sexual interest in prepubescent children.[1][2] Furthermore, psychological texts define pedophilia as a primary or exclusive attraction towards specifically prepubescent children;[3] primary or exclusive attraction towards pubescent children is known as hebephilia and towards post-pubescent adolescents as ephebophilia.
When you call pedophiles "monsters" and "predators of the worst kind", I presume you are talking about people who actually initiate force against pre-pubescent children for purposes of personal sexual gratification. If that is what you mean, I am inclined to agree with you. But I would be quite shocked, to put it mildly, if Arvin Vohra defended any such thing! Neither you nor others who have written have yet shown any evidence of this.
I've noticed that many members of the public confuse (or in some cases, I fear, deliberately conflate) the sexual attraction toward young children with which some individuals are apparently born, with inappropriately acting on such an attraction. People generally do not choose and cannot control their sexual preferences or desires, and so it would be wrong to punish or blame them for such attractions – but they can control their actions.
If you believe Arvin Vohra posted something that actually defends the initiation of force or fraud in regards to sexual relations with young people, please present your evidence. Mind you, I'm not saying that whatever he posted was necessarily smart communication on behalf of the party – which again I have yet to actually see – but you are accusing him of violating the Non-Aggression Principle. That charge deserves to be either better supported, or retracted.
Love & Liberty,
