*LETTER TO THE MEMBERS OF THE LNC FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY CANDIDATES FOR
PUBLIC OFFICE*
January 15th, 2017
To the Members of the Libertarian National Committee:
As Libertarian Party candidates for office from around the country, we have
dedicated our time, treasure, and resources to proudly represent the LP
brand and message of “liberty for the individual coupled with personal
responsibility” to the general public in our respective races around the
country.
We do so knowing that we will be required to put in exponential effort in
comparison to the authoritarian Parties we compete against due to the
nature of being a 3rd Party with the sole reward of possibly achieving a
world set free in our lifetimes.
We, the undersigned, condemn Vice Chair Arvin Vohra’s statements in
violation of LP Platform statement 1.4 Personal Relationships. We find that
the Vice Chair’s persistence in posting grossly offensive messaging towards
the LGBT, veterans, our military service members, teachers and the police
does not benefit the mutual cause of liberty we hold dear.
In spite of multiple individuals offering alternative ways to more
effectively message, such as veterans heading up messaging on the harm of
war, those voices have been ignored and we, the candidates, are left
putting out fires.
Mr. Vohra shows a lack of respect for candidates and a disregard for the
challenges we face reaching mainstream voters with a message that resonates
and increases our electability and relevance as Libertarians while
remaining squarely principled.
It has had the impact of driving away precious members and crucial
financial support for our respective State Parties and candidates. Many
candidates have lost supporters, volunteers and donors specifically because
of Mr. Vohra’s inexcusably irresponsible past statements.
We, the undersigned, call on the LNC to swiftly remove Mr. Arvin Vohra from
the Vice Chair position of the LNC Board.
We further encourage our State Parties to issue statements and resolutions
censuring Mr. Vohra and calling for his swift removal as Vice Chair.
Respectfully in Liberty,
The Libertarian Party Candidates for Public Office
