[Lnc-business] Draft Proposal for Feedback: Outreach Committee

Hello Fellow LNC Members,

 I’ve been working on this proposal which some of you have already given me some feedback on (wanted to make sure I didn’t make any glaring errors). Now I want to solicit feedback, suggestions and improvements from the body.

To clarify I’m not putting forth this motion I am merely soliciting feedback since I know any committees formed at this point will be dissolved come the national convention but I figured working out the language and starting the discussion can help this be ready to go right after the convention so it can be as helpful as possible in the years leading into 2020. Below is the draft.

Motion: The formation of an ad-hoc "Outreach Committee"

Purpose: To identify market segments (issue based, organizations, etc.) that may be open to being involved with the party either in growing membership, partnering on events and initiatives, or contributing to the party. After identifying target segments the committee seeks to identify experts within the party to be assigned as "Ambassadors" to reach out and build a relationship with target segment.

Structure: The committee will have 9 seats to be filled by Non-Members of the LNC to be appointed by the LNC. The committee will elect a Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. An additional 2 seats that can be filled by LNC members appointed by the LNC.

Job Descriptions:

Chair: Will run meetings at least once a month and give other members at least 14 days notice prior to such meetings. Quorum requires 60% of current committee members to be at the meeting.

Vice Chair: Will run meetings in absence of the chair.

Secretary: Maintain minutes of meetings

Committee Actions: The committee has two main actions it will vote on which require a minimum 60% vote of members attending the meeting.

- Voting to affirm or rescind a target segment and begin the process of identifying an internal expert as "Ambassador"

- Voting to affirm or rescind an Ambassadorship

Ambassadors: Ambassadors must submit reports of their activities to the committee prior to each meeting called by the chair.
