Dear colleagues:

I hope all is well with you.  As we begin the 2018-2020 term, allow
me to offer again my congratulations to you on your election to the LNC,
and to provide some information for you.  I hope you find the
information helpful.

1)  As Alicia Mattson mentioned during the first meeting, LNC members
should disclose potential conflicts of interest.  I have enclosed below
my list of potential conflicts of interest for your consideration.

2)  If you have not already done so, you may wish to prepare a
"Libertarian biography" that provides information about your involvement
and accomplishments in the LP and the liberty movement, as well as basic
biographical information.  I have found such a document to be very
helpful.  I have enclosed my bio below as a matter of introduction to my
new colleagues.

You may also wish to prepare a bullet-point list of the
biographical items you consider most important.  I usually bring such a
list with me when I appear on TV and radio programs, give invited
addresses, etc.  The list makes life easier for those who are
interviewing/introducing me; it also conveys a sense of professionalism.

3)  As you may know, I have been involved in building libertarian campus
organizations for several years.  By virtue of my background in campus
organizing, I would like to serve as an LNC member of the "Youth
Engagement Committee" that will soon be constituted.

Incidentally, if I understand correctly, the LNC will appoint the
five members of the committee; the committee members will appoint the
committee chair.  At least one committee member will be a college
student, at least two will be under the age of 27, and at least one will
be an LNC member.

If I may request of my fellow regional reps and alternates, please
inform/remind your state affiliates that I am happy to assist their
efforts to build college and high school organizations, as well as other
youth outreach efforts.  All things being equal, I prefer that they
contact me at my james.lark at lp.org e-mail address.

4)  On a personal note, thanks to all of you who offered congratulations
on my induction into the Hall of Liberty on Sunday. It is a great honor
to be inducted into the Hall of Liberty; I shall always strive to be
worthy of this honor.  Please note that our colleague Bill Redpath is
also a member of the Hall.

Thanks also for your kind comments regarding the work of the 2018
Awards Committee in organizing the awards ceremonies during the
convention.  I shall relay those kind comments to my Awards Committee
colleagues (Tim Hagan, Daniel Hayes, Keith Laube, and Hap Werther).

Thanks for your work for liberty.  I look forward to working with
you this term, and to seeing you in the Phoenix area in September.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance to you.

     Take care,
     Jim
