I doubt this will calm things any, but I feel I ought to try. I think there is miscommunication.
I am seeing a lot of statements like “How could any Libertarian possibly object to any of this? What particular clause do you disagree with?!”
I feel like this sets up a “You’re either with us or you’re with the Socialists” trap for members who are carefully considering their vote. And why would they ‘carefully consider’ a vote on a resolution packed with standard LP dogma? Well, I think several folks are concerned about the *context* of this resolution more than its *content*. They are perhaps concerned that it makes martyrs of libsocs, or gives off a whiff of purge-ism, or makes it look as if the committee is giving too much attention to a particular issue.
My point is that it’s disingenious, inconsiderate, and counterproductive to act as if the only possible opposition to this resolution could be based on its content and that therefore anyone who objects is somehow suspect - and that’s what it sounds like to some folks.
Everyone here is sincere and wants what’s best for the LP. Let’s just all make our points without casting aspersions against one another.
(Sorry to play the Rodney King card 🤷♀️)
