[Lnc-business] Re-setting the tone

Hi everyone, we have had some rocky patches this past month or so. I
will own whatever part I had in that and extend my apologies wherever
needed. If anyone feels like they would appreciate a specific
apology, please let me know. And even though it is not my personal
style, I will make a specific effort to reduce the number of emails
sent, and I ask you guys to grant some forbearance that I am trying.
We all have to try to meet each other in the middle. Also please be
sensitive to the fact that as Secretary, there are necessary
administrative emails I need to send. And as a gesture of good faith
and good old-fashioned FUN, I will voluntarily agree to send $1 for
each email over 5 that is not starting a ballot, a ballot reminder, a
ballot result announcement, or acknowledgment that a ballot needs to
be started.
Can anyone acknowledge something we will change or do to try
cooperatively make our team more efficient and pleasant? (not everyone
has anything that needs to change, and some of us have more than
others)
What can we do to set an example? To ourselves, to the watching
members, and to our future successors? (and to the NSA spies observing
us?)
I would like to share a rule I try (and being human, fail at
sometimes) to follow. OPPOSE IDEAS, don't oppose PEOPLE. There are
many reasons for this, but here are a few:
1. It de-personalizes. You are not rejecting *them* but a *position*
2. It honours the whole human being by realizing that they are more
than walking containers for ideas, that they are more than their
ideas, and their value transcends their ideas.
3. People change. Treating ideas and people as interchangeable
"bakes" in an idea in an identity which makes a meeting of the minds
and souls difficult.
