No, Ron Paul wasn't banned or rejected from speaking at the LP
convention. Some interested members spoke to Paul's booking agent who
indicated that Paul might be interested if his speaking fee of $35,000
were paid. This agent also represents Judge Napolitano. These members
asked for Paul to be put on the agenda and said they would raise the
money. Convention agendas cannot be planned in that way. Also, raising
that kind of money for a speaker fee from Libertarians would mean that
there is less funds for very worthy candidates running in 2018 and we
have a lot of talented and informative speakers who are interested for
a much lower (or no) fee. If the members raise the money and Paul
comes, it is extremely unlikely that a spot would not be made for him
gladly. We gave Paul an award last year for his long-standing
contributions to liberty. Paul himself has never contacted the LP to
indicate personal interest and was never told he was unwelcome.
