Wes - WA and AZ are my region. Donors and members are often much more
receptive to people they have a connection with- they give and join when
they see the Party working for them.
Whitney when the recruitment was being planned with Jess, the whole goal
was to save money for the Party. She is in Florida, she would try to hit
the eastern states and I would do the ones cheaper for me (the western
states) AND only ones I thought would have ROI. AZ and WA happened to be
some of the first. The others planned were not region 1. My aim was
maximum effectiveness and cheapest cost for the national party. I was not
going to go to either of those as I went last year and the understanding in
my region was to attempt to make each state once in two years. My personal
focus this year is Kansas and Utah, and unfortunately Kansas is the same
week as our LNC meeting. I went to recruit.
Wes made the points I was going to and just gave up. For things that
benefit the national party travel HAS been paid for for fundraising and so
has other expenses (the party at an LNC member's home - their region btw -
is another). So if I am a good fundraiser, I can only be a good one within
certain geography? Because the main concern is some kind of unsought and
actively discouraged "benefit"? This is where I think we miss the forest
for the trees so I am withdrawing. It isn't a good use of my energy.
With the offer of a private donor I would gladly take that opportunity.

I know all too well the LP drama machine and as much as is in
my
control I remove myself from that.
I felt like I was put in a position of having to defend
something
I had
been doing at great personal sacrifice and - nope. Not going
there.
Not worth it. It rented space in my head for one day and it’s
one day
too many.
I’m so scrupulous that I was worried about making pennies on a
steemit
repost of old LP videos. I’m scrupulous to a ridiculous
degree.
After
a few years of being surprised by insinuations of self-benefit
one gets
tired of it. It goes beyond this specific issue.
As I said- be good. Just not too good. Work hard. But if
people
notice then obviously you’re not doing it for good intentions
or
are
getting illicit benefit. Be invisible or you are
self-promoting.
I do what I do out of a pure love for our cause. I spent
nearly
$8,000
out of my own pocket in traveling for my service and I’m a
basic
middle
class paycheck to paycheck person.
I simply don’t want the drama. As basic as that. Now I can
continue
to recruit as I can in peace. And that is priceless.
