I have no idea what the trade-off is. What is the "this message contains"
problem that has no inflamed the populace?

Apparently there's a trade-off between having HTML mode emails
and
having archives with the message "this message contains..."
Choosing the best option for the LNC among the trade-offs is a
decision
I don't feel comfortable making for the LNC, unless the chair,
secretary, or entire LNC asks me to make that decision for you.
If
asked to make that decision, I'll go with allowing HTML. I almost
never
use the archives, so I'm not in tune with the hardship the "this
message contains..." causes.
HTML messages allow you to embed images, and also allow you to
add
formatting like bold, red, underlining, and other things. With
the
present settings, if you compose a message with bold, red,
underlining,
etc., and then send it, your outgoing email may look to you like
the
formatting worked, but the formatting won't actually reach the
other
participants on LNC Business.
I can certainly live without the html option, and again, that's
the
current setting.

Dear Wes Benedict,
If we add the ability to embed images, it will likely cause the
email
to go into HTML mode instead of TEXT mode, and that causes the
archive
to again start putting messages into "this message contains..."
mode,
which people complain about.
I need to have direction from someone on this. Either I can turn
off
HTML (which is what I've done) to stop the archive from being
broken,
or I can turn on HTML and let the archive be what it will be.
Sadly
there does not appear to be any middle-ground on this.
