A couple of questions Arvin.
First, as usual, I will be soliciting the opinion of my regional chairs.
But some specifics are missing... will this Committee produce a report?
What would be the make-up of the Committee? Are you thinking of an ad hoc
committee for a specific period of time as a trial period? If so....
when? With convention coming up would this be something that would start
after that, and if so, shouldn't that be something the LNC that is elected
should decide? Isn't it unusual to start a new committee right before a
convention precisely for these reasons....
I am not opposed to the idea, I think we need to be on the forefront of
disruptive technologies. Such a committee could also produce white papers
on freeing us from fiat which is state control.
My main concern is the timing. If the new LNC isn't on Board and has
something we thrust on them, its not fair to any committee members or that
LNC.
Also, often times it is good for a member with a great idea to go forward
with it independently first, even on a very small scale as a bit of "proof
of concept." I am a big beleiver in numerous micro-projects started and
led by the grassroots, but in order for more skeptical people on the LNC to
get behind it, they need a taste and a showing of commitment.
I think the Historical Committee is a good example (and I am sure there are
many from the past). I saw the records. I developed a plan, with a bunch
of specifics, I independently workshopped with people to set up some
infrastructure (Ken and I did a lot of planning about LPedia, moving it
etc, no matter what happened), and we did a mini-self-funded project (by
self-funded I mean I got some like-minded people together and we paid for
it) of converting the old microfilm into digital copies.
So skin was already in the project. A committed team leader gave some work
product and ideas. I think it much more likely to pass with that.
My personal opinion is that from between now and the first full LNC meeting
after convention, that the group who wishes to lead this get together and
do some examples, and ask for time on the agenda to do a presentation.
Just my thoughts.
We need more micro-projects but it is not only about a good idea but about
a good leader - and that has to be shown at least a taste with some work
product. I know the guys who are interested in this angle and they are
passionate about the topic. But not everyone knows that.
Thanks for the notice and bringing it up. I am a large crypto fan, or more
specifically, the possibilities of blockchain and other disruptive
technologies like 3D printing which I am convinced will change the whole
face of the disarmament debate.

Hi All,
On behalf of Michael Heise, I will be making a motion to create a
Blockchain Committee at the next LNC meeting.
-- Statement of Purpose This committee is being founded to serve
3
purposes:
1. To research blockchain technology and explore it’s potential
use and
implementation to solve problems or inefficiency within the
Libertarian
Party and how it conducts business and other party functions.
2. To consult/advise with Bloggers, Podcasters, Crypto-currency
project
teams members, miners, whales and other related parties to
explore how
the Libertarian Party can become more attractive to the
cryptocurrency/blockchain community.
3. To create and promote cross platform promotion and education
of the
libertarian party, libertarianism, cryptocurrencies and
blockchain
technologies. Potential examples include having crypto-related
speakers
at libertarian/ party events, have libertarian party members,
including
candidates, at crypto-related events, creating a streamlined
crypto-training procedure for interested candidates, and more
I will also support this motion. To defeat the state and it's two
puppet parties, we have to outthink and outstrategize them. We
cannot
limit ourselves to playing by their rules. Using a combination of
political, technological, cultural, and individual choice
libertarianism is, in my view, the strategically superior
approach.
