[Lnc-business] Fwd: Ohio petition too slow. Help! Get paid $2.50 each!

 I have mixed feelings

My feelings against:

Many people do give up a lot of time of their own volition without asking for anything in return and we don’t want to set a precedent that may make those close to the party feel they should always be compensated and hold out until doing so. Paying for signatures should be on a if needed basis, and paying party members should be If on a much greater need basis. (I rather reward party members but you can accidentally build an expectation that’s impossible to walk back)

My feelings for:

If time is limited you got to do what you need with the people best suited for the job. Not all members are equally financially able to give up as much of their time as others and if some financial assistance can get people with the right knowledge and passion to work to the party benefit that is not a bad thing. Members paid for petitioning are more likely to use that money for libertarian causes maximizing the use of those dollars.

My final thoughts:

- Ballot access should always be top priority and if this is the best way to make sure Ohio achieves ballot access we should probably allow this.

- We should also be careful to prevent a precedent that could hurt our volunteer levels in future ballot drives by creating some ground rules for members being compensated.

Example: An LNC member must meet certain volunteer requirements before consideration for compensation (a certain numbers of volunteer hours or signatures collected).

These are my thoughts, take them as you will.
