   Mr Hayes,
I think you are fundementally misunderstanding the complaint, and
finding malicious intent where there is none. There was never any
mention of an authoritarian oversight where the state affiliate should
have sway over whether or not LPUS participates in an event, but rather
an inquiry as to whether or not it would be proper for LPUS to extend
the courtesy of notifying state affiliates of planned events, as to
work cooperatively on them, and maximize resources.
Had it been considered that perhaps the state affiliates could provide
some resources locally tonmitogate expenses of the national party on
travel and set up? Perhaps even coordination of manpower to maximize
coverage at the event? Or joint publicization of the event to broaden
   audience appeal?
Or perhaps sometimes these events that LPUS attends and participates in
could also be beneficial to the state parties. Are we not an affiliate
driven, bottom up organization? Should not the responsibility of the
national party include increasing the exposure and efficacy of our
   affiliates and empowering them?
