Joshua I thought so too, but a strict reading of the Bylaws does not
say that- I think the intent was to say that (just like I think the
intent is for different people to hold the various seats) but it does
   not strictly say that.

I think it's worth noting that, if this motion were to pass, the
     LNC
would not get (at least the way I read the bylaws) to appoint a
replacement. The effect would simply be to have fewer filled
     positions
on the committee (albeit with the same number of people).
On the topic of a bylaw change, I am open to suggestions, but it
     is not
immediately apparent to me how you'd prevent this circumstance.
     Of
course, there's an obvious way, but the effect would be to limit
     state
appointments, since the LNC generally appoints first. The LNC
appointed, if I remember correctly, one alternate to the Platform
Committee. It could appoint 20, and a bylaw limiting the state
appointments would mean that the LNC could simply choose 20
     people and
make them ineligible for state appointments. The other way to do
     it is
to let the states do as they want, but if the states choose a
     person,
it bumps that person out of the LNC appointment. That prevents
     LNC
mischief, but opens the door to state mischief. If anyone has an
     idea
that avoids those issues, I'd be happy to hear it, though.

Alternate is now the Primary, a conflict is in place. If we follow
with Starchild's motion, I don't see an issue created, because Mr.
Starr would still remain on the committee, while we ensure to add
the clarity that he does only hold one seat.
While I certainly understand that no bylaws are violated, I don't
see this as a measure to punish, but to ensure integrity in the
process. And while I am sure Mr. Starr is not going to abuse this,
we would have precedent set to make sure that if someone did, we
   can
        make sure action is taken.
I would also recommend that we also discuss with the Bylaws
Committee about updating our bylaws to make sure that we do not
   end
up with a double up situation again, and we will not be presented

   That

In line with the prior Committee decision, there is no challenge
        to
that from the Committee if that is the position Mr. Starr wishes
        to

        the
appointing bodies. Ergo, my letting the appointing bodies be
        aware
which is my duty to do so.
What I did say is that I was making the appointing bodies aware
   to
determine if this is their intent and if they are comfortable
   with
        the

                   Alternate and
                      CA primary.
Since that time, LNC appointee Jeffrey Miron has

                   a
vacancy on the LNC appointments. It seems to me

            Mr.

            agrees on
                   that,
but this results in Mr. Starr in effect holding two
            primary
appointments, that of LNC and that of California.
        This
            can

voting, gives a potential strategic advantage to Mr.

            vacated any
                   seat
and thus holds the two positions. The Committee has

is nothing in RONR or our Bylaws that prevents this
