Thank you for all your efforts Alicia. None of these issues fall on you, you and your tellers did great work. They fall on us to get fixed for next time.

The email list hadn't yet been updated when I sent the original message
below this one, so now that the new members are on it I will re-send it.
I'm feeling more human now after a couple nights of normal sleep.
I'm currently traveling with only sporadic internet access. I'll return to
normal life by Monday.
To answer a few questions, yes, the ballots and tally sheets are retained
until the minutes are approved. I've provided state-by-state breakdowns
each year in the past, and I don't intend for this year to be different.
No, you won't have to wait for the draft minutes to see that, given that we
didn't get to do that on-screen for the final two sets of results. I will
strive to get you data to review when I return home.
The tellers were double-checking the tally sheets as they came in for the
At-Large. When it was time to get the JudComm ballots started, my first
inclination was that we'd just have to use what the state chairs turned in
on the At-Large, but the tellers informed me that they were finding and
correcting a large number of errors made by delegation chairs on the tally
sheets. Because of that, we prioritized the process of validating the
numbers in the At-Large race over processing JudComm results. Tellers
completed a full audit of the At-Large before the state numbers were
aggregated into results.
Following the post-convention LNC meeting, about 10 people in teams of 2
helped audit the JudComm tally sheets and observed the data entry process
as the numbers were aggregated into results. As with the At-Large, this
audit found and corrected a large number of errors made by delegation
chairs on the tally sheets. This extra effort was made on both races with
the goal of getting the correct result.
I realize that a very close race makes people more concerned about possible
mistakes, but as I have documented in the appendices to past convention
minutes, it is just as easy to make large errors as it is to make small
ones. A tight race isn't necessarily more susceptible to mistaken results
than a larger margin race.
We do the on-screen review precisely so we can try to catch errors onsite.
I'll give you insight into what the causes of them were during the officer
elections. One of them was my data entry mistake. The remainder were
mistakes by delegation chairs. Some examples. One delegation wrote a
candidate's total on the wrong line of the tally sheet. One delegation,
when a candidate had zero votes, instead of leaving the line blank or
writing a zero, they wrote a slash mark that was only slightly angled from
vertical and it really looked like the number 1, rather than an indicator
of zero votes.
Gotta run for now. It will be late tonight before I will have internet
access again, but I wanted to send a quick note about what to expect.
